Th is is Mekong in Cambodia
while the majority of people travel to Cambodia to visit the Angkor Temples in Siem Reap there are hideaway places off the beaten tourist track for the
more adventurous traveller. In Cambodia this encompasses travelling away from the Siem Reap Phnom Penh
Sihanoukville route to explore the relatively sparsely populated areas of Cambodia. What there area offer world not be classes as adrenaline –
pumping for the true adventure junkie. They are adventurous travel activities which the whole family can enjoy. These activities could
include bicycling, hiking or trekking. The visit to Angkor Wat can be extended to a cycling tour of the whole Angkor Archaeological Park
this giving plenty of options of exploring away from the heavy tourist traffic favoured sites of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom.

This is a view Mekong Cambodia when sunset .For years, I have been slowly chipping away, small sections at a time, at my dream of cruising the length of the Mekong - from China to the
Delta. Two years ago we did the Laos sections, and this time, we covered Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap Cambodia. One of these days, I'll spend a year covering the entire 2500 miles!

The people take product go to market .We used rickshaws, smaller boats, and motorbikes; and strolled local footpaths, to thoroughly explore, and photograph, the Mekong Delta. A
bilingual cruise director was always along, allowing us to communicate with the locals, and when he was busy, a smile and sign language always did the trick.

In December 2007. The last 80 or so river dolphins in the Mekong River are at the heart of an ambitious development programme to tackle poverty and attract tens of thousands
of visitors to two of the poorest provinces of Cambodia. The Mekong River Discovery Trail Project will draw visitors to view the endangered fresh water dolphin which lives in 10 deep water natural pools
in a 190-km stretch of the Mekong River, mostly between the quiet provincial capitals of Kratie and Stung Treng.Mekong River Dolphin.Poverty Alleviation The main objective of the Discovery Trail is
poverty alleviation. About 50% of all households in Stung Treng and 30% of those in Kratie live on less than US$1 a day. ‘The Mekong River Discovery Trail Project aims to bring about sustainable pro-poor
tourism that helps develop Northeast Cambodia,’ says Dr Harsh Varma, Director of Development Assistance Department of the World Tourism Organization.

The life people live on Mekong river now I decided for a one-way tour partially into Mien Tay (Mekong delta region of Vietnam, and the last region of Vietnam I haven't seen) to Chau Doc,
a city near the Vietnam-Cambodia border. From here, I would take a speedboat up the Mekong into Phnom Penh. This turned out to be the ultimate way to get into Cambodia. The tour itself was pretty lame. I did it
mainly to glimpse into the VN river delta life: floating houses on the river where they farm fish, production of chewy coconut candies, gummy banana treats, popped rice cakes. I chose this tour because it was mostly
by boat: row boats, double decker boats, speedboats. So out of all the cities of Mien Tay like My Tho, Ben Tre, Can Tho, I only saw Vinh Long and Chau Doc.

Mekong Travel In Cambodia

The Mekong Travel was an ancient Khmer territory. The area was mostly marshland and forest. When the Nguyen Lords took control of this region, a series of canals were built and a system
of transportation was implemented in the maze of water ways in the area. The Mekong Delta is divided into 9 provinces: Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, An Giang, Vinh Long, Kien Giang, Hau Giang and Minh Hai.
The people in this region are made up of Vietnamese and some people of Khmer, Chinese and Cham origin. This accounts for the variety of religions that add to the cultural diversity of this area. Among the religions
practiced here are: Buddhism, Catholicism, Cao Dai , Hoa Hao and Islam. The southwest region of Vietnam is known for the vast rice fields and the huge plantations that make up the core of this region's economy. The
region is also known for the many miles of waterways criss-crossing the land making this area both fertile and unique.

The bicycle riding Cambodia is fifty years behind Thailand in terms of infrastructure, there are still numerous ways to find adventure in this beautiful country. Indeed Cambodia's lack of
development makes almost any excursion beyond the tourist spots of Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanonukville an adventure. Most roads remain unpaved and rivers and waterways are still an important means of
communication and trade.Outside the cities, people still live in a rural world that has not changed for hundreds of years without electricity, running water and often even a road wide enough for anything bigger than
a Honda Dream. Perfect for mountain biking trails and kayaks.

The Mekong bus detartuer as such morning, afteenoon and to night. when I woke up. It's 6:30a.m.! I jumped out, got dressed and quickly checked out. I am supposed to reach the bus company
15 minutes before 7a.m., so no time for breakfast! I bought newspapers from a walking vendor, thus I am left with 55k Dong as memorablia.boarded the bus and was asked to fill in the embarkation card for entering
Cambodia, when I realised I lost my pen again! The bus ride was interesting enough, with a guide introducing some of the places that we passed by. But what's even more interesting is the immigration clearance. After
2 hours or so we arrived at the Vietnamese customs. We took down all our luggage for scanning. Seems like the Vietnamese does the scanning of luggage for the Cambodians. After checking our bags, we pass our
passports to the guide, and he passes the whole stack to the officer at the counter. The officer will then chop the whole stack of passport without even looking at us and then return the passports to the guide. The
guide will then call our names one by one, return our passports, and get us back onto the bus.

The Phnom Penh is the capitol of Cambodia with lots of different resorts, supermarkets, hospitals, hotels and budget accomodations in Phnom and have alot fo peoples live in here, and
Phnom Penh is a great city with lots of things to do and see. The town is spread out on the banks of two rivers. One of the most enjoyable things to do is to take a walk down by the Tonle Sap river in the late
afternoon when all the local Khmers are there. There is a lot of activity - eating, entertaining, praying - and everyone seems to be enjoying it. A very rewarding experience. We are going to list what we feel are
the best hotels in Phnom Penh for the different accommodation categories.Australian blogger Phil Lees has whiled away his exile in Phnom Penh by taking the fight for Cambodian food online. Since 2005, he's been
educating internerds on all things Cambodian and edible (some, questionably edible) over at Phnomenon.com. Since its launch, Phnomenon has managed to get banned in China, one-up the New York Times, publish the
world's greatest collection of alcoholic beverage reviews, and in general build an excellent stash of advice for potential visitors. But a bad meal isn't all that can set your trip awry in Cambodia's capital. Here,
Phnomenon saves you from five of the biggest mistakes tourists make in Phnom Penh.· Don't (just) eat fish amok, eat Cambodian soups. Soups are central to Cambodian food. The lemongrass and galangal of samlor machou
kroueng, the unripe tropical fruits in samlor karko, and the tamarind sour, Vietnamese-inspired samlor machou yuon should not be missed by any traveler. Sadly, most tourists skip the soups and tend to eat Chinese-
or Thai-style stirfries and curries and thus overlook the dishes that tie together a brilliant Cambodian meal. Fish amok, while delicious, is not as fundamental to familiarising yourself with Khmer cuisine. It is
still worth the effort to chase a good amok (I recommend Sweet Café on St.294); as is trying some multitude variations on fish preparation: steamed or deep-fried whole, fermented, dried, or barbecued.
